OPERATION AMSTERDAM: FLIGHT OF THE WILD ROSE

updated december 22, 2005

I started this just before I found out about Scamorama. You guys improved my style immensely. My main hobby is role-playing-games (both table-top and live-action), and developing a new and consistent persona for scam-baiting proved to be relatively easy. Trying to get around my poor resources was not so easy.

And the players are -

The Scammers
Barrister Frank G. George - "a solicitor and an advocate of the supreme court of Nigeria".
He really needs to learn the use of the space bar.
Mr. Jimmy Clark - (Operations Manager), Euro Securities & Finance Company, Amsterdam
Monica Henks - Verification/Vetting Officer, Euro Securities & Finance Company

The Scam Baiters
Eliza Dane - (a name drawn from the Nick Cave/Kylie Minogue duet, "The Wild Rose") is a smart but slightly spoiled 22-year-old student
Rosie Childe - Eliza's cousin, inspired in part by Princess Candy of Scamorama (named by after the Neil Diamond song by a work colleague, who enjoyed updates on my scam-baiting) is a pleasant young lady, but not nearly as smart as Eliza.
Nick - aka Nikos Speleotis (the closest I could get to "Nick Cave"), is Eliza"s possessive boyfriend.

When you're ready, "Mister Music" Our saga begins on 23 September 2005.

PART ONE

Barrister Frank G. George

BARRISTER FRANK.G. GEORGE . AND CHAMBERS
A SOLICITOR AND AN ADVOCATE OF THE SUPREME COURT OF NIGERIA
Dearest,
Good day and how are you? My wish is that you receive this letter in good faith and by his grace we are going to work good things out of this great deal.
My name is Barrister Frank.G. George, A Solicitor and an Advocate of the supreme court of Nigeria, I am the Personal Attorney to Mr Alan ,an expatriate, who was a consultant with shell development oil company in Nigeria.
On the 21st of April 2001, my client and his wife were involved in a car accident along Sagamu/Lagos Express Road. Unfortunately they lost their lives in the event of the accident, since then I have made several enquiries as to locate any of his extended relatives, but all proved abortive. After several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to trace his relatives over the Internet,to locate any member of his family but to no avail, hence I decided to contact you.
I am contacting you to assist in retrieving the money valued at about (US$11.5m) that was left behind by my client (Mr.Alan ) with the Universal Trust Bank Plc (UTB) before it gets confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank.Consequently, The bank issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have the account confiscated within the next ten official working days.
Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 2years now, I hereby seek your consent to act as the next of kin to the deceased, the proceeds of this account valued at (US$11.5 million dollars) can be paid to you and then you and I can share the money.55% to me and 40% to you, while 5% should be for expenses or tax as your government may require. I have all the necessary legal documents that can be used to back up this project.
All I require is your honest cooperation to enable us succeed without any hitch. I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect us from any breach of the law.
Please do get in touch with me.
Thanks as I look forward to your anticipated maximum cooperation.
Yours Sincerely.
Barrister Frank.G. George(Esq.)

Ah, the Dead Bank Customer... Well, let's see what we can do with it. I answer the same day. Incidentally, the Sagamu-Lagos Express Road claims yet more victims. Make sure to update the records, will you?

[Scamorama staff have read accusations by Nigerians that the Sagamu-Benin and Ibagan-Lagos expressways are beset by robbers, who, in the manner of old shipwreckers, run local drivers off the road and loot the wreckage. And we thought hitting the delete key was hard.]

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. George,
While I'm very interested in your proposal, I"d like to know more about the deceased "Mr. Alan" (was that his last name?) and how you came to approach me about this.
Until you clear up these details I can"t be of further assistance.
Regards,
Eliza Dane

He gets back quickly! It"s still the 23rd!

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza Dane,
Thanks for your email of even date ,in response to my offer for us to partner together and for you to receive the amount of US$11.5Million,abandoned by my late client,in UTB Bank,Lagos Nigeria. My email must have come to you as a surprise, but please I crave your indulgence to hear me out.As I informed you in my original mail, out of pressures from the bank,I had to track the last name of the deceased on the internet in a deperate search for any member of his family or extended family, with the same last name.
I am therefore, gratified by your great interest in my proposal and I have noted your request to know more about the deceased and,I will include information on the legal documents to back up the offer and claim in the bank and I wish to assure you that everything is available, and I will send you all by email as attachments,as soon as you aconfirm your agreement for us to work and succeed together as a team.
For instance,I have in my custody, the Investment Deposit Certificate which the UTB Bank issued to my client at the time he made the depsit.I also have a copy of the Death Certificate which the Probate Registry of Births and Deaths issued to authorize the funeral of my client.
When we start the claim process in the bank,I will depose to an affidavit of claim on your behalf and with this,I will apply to secure the necessary Letter of Administration which will authorize the bank to accept the claim application I will make on your behalf, for you to receive the abandoned funds as the deceased's next of kin. In your reply email, please let me know if you want anything clarified further.
We will discuss any such issues when we speak on telephoneas I will call you for a discussion as soon as I could have your secure direct contact telephone number and I will explain everyhting to you very well so that nothing whatsoever, will confuse you about the proposed business relationship. This is because,I believe that it is when you understand me and the offer very well, that you will give me your maximum cooperation, without which the claim may not succeed.
Meanwhile, you should feel very free to call me at my own direct contact telephone:+234 802 576 0673. Expecting your call today.
Sincerely,
Frank O.George,Esq.

I"m still new at this, so I plugged away at the questions.

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. George,
Thank you for your prompt reply. However, you didn't directly answer my question about 'Mr. Alan's' real name. I'm not asking you to give me all that you have, just for a straight answer. You also haven't said just what I have to do for "honest (or maximum) cooperation".
We may as well settle that topic right away. Once it is resolved and I"m satisfied, we can move on.
Best wishes,
Eliza Dane.
Barrister

A scam email seems the wrong place of the word "rigmarole", but never mind

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza Dane,
Thanksfor your prompt reply too.I hope that you are fine. Sorry if my answer was a rigmarole.I thought it was ok to let you fully into the whole picture. The direct answer to your questions are:
1.Mr.Alan's full name was :Alan Dane.Of course,if you read my original offer over again, you will read where I remarked that I had to track the last name of the deceased on the internet in order tocome into contact with a possible relative of his.
2.Your honest(ormaximum cooperation) means that when we agree to go ahead together, the information you will be required to submit and with which I will prepare an Application for Claim and submit to the bank, has to be truthful, especially, your full names, address and banking information where the transfer of the US$11.5 will be sent.I also need you to be open tome as we have not met ourselves before, and do not elope with the fund when it eventually arrives the bank account you will indicate for the transfer. Maximum cooperation connotes the fact the when the claim process succeeds and your account receives the funds, you will also be willing to receive me as your guest for the disbursement according to our agreed percentages and assist to identify high yield business investments for me to invest a major part of my own share.
Cooperation also means that you will share in the comitments/expenses that will be needed for us to succeed, since it will cost us some money to execute the Claim Application and processing,in the bank in order to achive the final approval, release and transfer of funds.
Please let me know if you still want anything clarified further. You could call me at :+234 802 576 0673.If I could have your telephone number,I will sure call you for a discussion.
Best wishes and a happy weekend,
Frank O.George,Esq.

Slight panic attack for poor Eliza...

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. George,
Your reply actually raised a couple more questions, like how you knew my name to start with. AFAIK my ISP doesn't release names from user profiles, and I don't (again AFAIK) subscribe to any sites that store that sort of info. Which site gave you my details?
Another thing - $11.5 million arriving out of nowhere is going to raise questions. I'm not going to elope (how quaint!) with the money - $4.6 million is good enough - but how do I explain it?
I'm pretty young and my parents (and of course my boyfriend) are going to wonder how I got rich. And don't forget the questions from the tax man! Or, maybe, the spooks - don't you have a lot of Moslems in Nigeria? Suppose they thought it was Al-Qaida money? I don't want to end up in Gitmo! You got any ideas?
Regards,
Eliza Dane

He then left off for a day before replying. Other scams? Or considering his next move?

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
I just read your mail and I will write you detailed response to your questions before the end of today or tomorrow. I am rushing out to attend a client in court. Please send me me your telephone number or call me later today. Expect my detailed response as promised.
Regards,
Frank O George Esq.

Eliza Dane

Mr. George -
OK then - I'll wait. Good luck in court.
Eliza

He reasonably deftly side-steps (so her thinks) Eliza's request for how he found her. A bit of self-deprecation, too...

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza,
Thanks for your second email and patience. This is part of attributed I desire in a partner for this deal. All your questions are welcome and I will answer them presently:
1.As I explained before now,I got your contact from the internet while on a desperate search to find a DANE.I must be very frank with you that it is a litle difficult to pin-point the site because I discovered that the name DANE is a very rare name and I had to serach so many sites and use many search machines before I was lucky to come across your information.Again, please pardon me if I say that I am not a computer wizard and so,my major interest was to seek out a DANE,so I did not pay particular attention to the source of the information. In fact,it did not even occur to me to do so.
2.Thank you for your promise that you will not elope with the whole money.I believe you. Again, you score another point with me.Your other attribute(honesty),is quite convincing to me.
Please, could you confirm to me how old you are?But this would not be a problem because,in the course of the claim application,I will depose to an affidavit of claim in the High Court of Justice in your favour,as the beneficiary of the claim funds.I will also assist(maybe)with the help of another lawyer,to secure the necessary certificate of clearance which will certify that the funds have no drug, money laundering or terrorism related origins. With the above statutory documents and those from other relevant government offices, neither your bank nor your local authorities or even your family or friend, will raise any eyebrows when your account receives the funds. There are other possible options, especially,if you could travel elsewhere in the world,to receive the funds and open a non-resedent bank account in such a location to lodge away the funds from public knowledge. If you like this option, please say so,so that I could expand on it in my next mail to you.
3.The tax will be settled from the principal transfer amount and the tax man will be very happy about this because it will generate good revenue to government. I hope I have been able to make your concerns clearer.
Please, let us go ahead and succeed together .Give me your telephone so that I could call you for a discission. You could call me also.
Sincerely,
Frank O.George Esq.

Well, he kept Eliza waiting, so it's his turn now...

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. George,
I'd like to say more but it's my turn to hurry off now - college y'know. Can you wait until this evening? I'm afraid you have to. Gotta run!
Eliza Dane

Why botanical sciences? It was that bit about "The Wild Rose"... I gotta make sure that 'phone calls are ruled out; easily done.

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. George,
Sorry for the delay - but it's been a busy day! Thanx for the nice words; it's good to be appreciated. Since you ask - I am 22 and hope to make a career in botanical sciences. It's a growth industry (yes, I know it's a bad joke) even if some of my college acquaintances go on at me about genetically modified crops. It's not all about GM, I tell them, but hey... who listens?
I wish I had your faith in documentation. I'm not sure if just showing the spooks a piece of paper saying "This money has nothing to do with terrorism (or money laundering, or drugs)" would be that much use if they started sniffing around.
Likewise, I doubt if just producing the same documents would necessarily satisfy the tax man. It sure as hell won't stop my folks from wondering where the money came from. Hmmm... maybe the non-resident bank thing is the way to go. Clue me in. Is this anything like Swiss bank accounts?
With regards to a private number; it can't be done. I'm still living at home, and trust me when I say that my parents would ask questions if I started getting calls from a previously unknown man. We couldn't talk freely anyway (my mother is really nosy, and my boyfriend, Nick, is a bit possessive). It's getting late, so I have to go now.
Until next time,
Eliza

Oh, he has a real understanding of the importance of botanical science. The world needs me. How sweet...
Hmm, he mentioned an 18-year age gap. What's on his mind?

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your emails of Monday and Tuesday. Sorry that I am writing you this response after a couple of days.It is has been quite a busy period for us too. It was nice to read of your interest in botanical scinences. It does not matter if your friends and folks listen when you talk to them about improving GM.The world needs you and I want to encourage you not to let anything be a distraction to your aspirations in this direction. In fact,if we do succeed together,I will personally apportion part of my own share to research in genetical sciences and the modification of living species of all sorts with a goal to make better grades of such species. I have understood that I cannot call you on telephone. It is also interesting to know that you are 22.I am 40,so there is a wide 18 years betwen us.
Concerning the issue of a non-resident investment bank account, please be informed that this is ok and the possible way out for us. The details is as follows:We here work out a strategy for you to receive the pay out of the funds in either Switzerland,Amsterdam-Netherlands or Accra,Ghana(West Africa)through one of the bank's affiliate financial institions.Be reassured that this can be achieved. When you arrive there, you will open a non-resident investment bank account in your own name and lodge the funds which I will ensure will be paid out to you in cash or a cash equivalent banking instrument such as a confirmable Bank Draft, into the account. You could either decide to leave the funds in this account as invesment funds of from this account, you send out little transfers piecemeal and unnoticed,to any other bank accounts you might open elsewhere in the world. Please let us know what you decide so that we could start off the transaction in earnest.
Sincere regards,
Frank O George Esq.

What else could go wrong? Well...

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. George,
Thanx again for the nice comments. I'll cut to the chase; for every solution there is a problem. The foreign banking idea is neat, but it has a problem - I don't have a passport. Given the way things have tightened up, it could take a while to get one.
Then I have to think up a plausible reason to travel - and I've never talked to my folks about going to Africa, so Ghana's out. Amsterdam would make more sense... but then there's the fact that Nick (remember - my boyfriend?) would insist on coming along, and he'd wonder why I was going to some investment bank and not an art gallery or something... Can't you stall the bank or something?
Regrets,
Eliza Dane

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your email of Thursday. I am looking at things and thinking of the best option that would,be less hassle for you and for me and our deal. I will get back to you as soon as there is a viable alternative to the earlier options. But,please consider again the Amsterdam option and taking your boyfriend along,if that would make things work out better. It means also that you have to look for a way to make him se through our plans and believe in it,because without his support for you,it would bequite difficult for you to make the trip.
If you had a Passport and your boyfriend does too,the Ghana option would have been best because I could arrange for the investment bank to assist with the issue of visas to you either before you arrive Ghana or at the port of entry.
Think out possible solutions while I also see what is possible at this end. Have a nice time.
Frank O Geroge Esq.

Eliza Dane

Mr. George,
I was getting worried! Thanx for putting things to rest for now.
I don't know if I can sell the whole package to Nick. Like I said, he's a tad - er, possessive (others would say he's jealous - sadly true; it's the only thing wrong with him) and the idea that I'd been communicating with you, even via email, might make him reject the whole thing out of spite. Perhaps if I wrapped up the whole thing in the context of a wager or something, like a college competition (ie a scavenger hunt) or even "The Amazing Race" on a small scale - go to X number of locations and do a different thing at each. What do you think? BTW, that would fit Amsterdam the best, wouldn't it?
I'll wait for your advice.
Best wishes,
Eliza Dane

I attached a picture of 'Eliza' and 'Rosie' at a Christmas party. Actually it was a pic of the Olsen Twins - a bit of a gamble but as it happened, 'Frank' knew no better. In fact it made him positively wax lyrical.

[Dear Scamoramans, FYI, for those who are not American or have managed to resist yet another pop culture factoid until now, the Olsen Twins are pretty young women who have been acting (mostly on TV) since infancy. They look younger than they are, and in this context, are basically jailbait.]

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
You and Rosie are wonderful sights to behold in the picture you attached for me.Very Great sight indeed!
Also, your idea about how to get the acts together before bringing Nick into the picture is fantastic!Nick is only being natural if he is the jealous type.Even our creator,as the Holy Bible makes us to know and believe,is a jealous God,how much more we humans that are carnal beings. It is ok,if everything finally culminates in the Amsterdam option.Just go ahead and get everything wrapped up,and let me know how you fare regularly.
Let me know also,if you need more advice or suggestions at any point.
Looking forward to getting details from you as soon as possible.
Sincere regards,
Frank O George Esq.

And so we end part 1 on 4 October. Good grief, how much longer can I sustain this?

PART TWO

Let's get some problems in place.

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. George,
It'll be a while before anything can be done - a week at least. Look at what I have to do!
[1] Actually broach the idea of going to Amsterdam. I've laid some groundwork already, but not the specific destination. Nick will go along with this, if I wrap the idea up right.
[2] Get a passport. That's going to take a few days.
[3] Get Mom and Dad to agree to let me travel overseas with Nick. I can get them to say yes, but it's going to take a little arm-twisting. Dad's easy to convince (sorta), Mom less so...
More as it develops.
Here's to travelling,
Eliza Dane

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Many thanks for your mail. I am in complete agreement with your plan of action. I will await your regular feedbackas I also do my best to get things worked out at this end.
Sincerely,
Frank O George Esq.

Now let the problems multiply!

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. George,
I'd like to say, it's all done and dusted, but... well, things never go smoothly, do they?
First off, the passport; still waiting. I sounded out Nick. He seemed to like the idea of going overseas... but the idea of Amsterdam had him giving me funny looks. Then it clicked. What's Amsterdam famous for, aside from canals? Diamonds. I think he thinks this is some round about way of suggesting we get married. Almost there...
Then my parents, and the other thing that Amsterdam is famous for; drugs. Dad didn't actually say that, but he looked pretty dubious about the thought of an Amsterdam jaunt. I had to make up an itinerary on the spot to include places like Brugges and Paris.
I saw him talking quietly with Mom later.
I don't know what's going to happen next.
I'll be in touch.
Best regards,
Eliza

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your wonderful update. Keep us informed, please.
Regards,
Frank O George Esq.

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank,
You betcha!
Eliza

'Frank' has problems with a fairly commonplace term.

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks foryour mail.
What do you mean by :"Dear Frank, You betcha!"?
Find attached,the Investment Deposit Certificate.
Regards,
Frank O George Esq

Hmm... flashy piece of work to these untutored eyes, if not for the syntax errors.

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank:
I meant, "For certain I'll keep you informed". "You betcha" is shorthand for "You bet your ass", which means "It's for certain". Sorry about any confusion.
Thanx for the certificate. Looks yummy!
See ya,
Eliza

PART THREE

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your mail and reassurance.
I will wait for your regular updates.
Very truly yours,
Frank O.George Esq.

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Just felt like keeping in touch, because it has been quite an age since we wrote to each other last. I am aware though that you are on the arrangement, which cannot materialise authomatically. How are you faring and how is Nick?
I would greatly appreciate to read from you.
Have a wonderful time as you finalise the arrangements.
God bless!
Frank O. George Esq.

What can I do now... oh yeah, keep the passport away.

Eliza Dane

Frank,
Sorry about the silence - my bad. I should have updated you a couple of days ago (not that there's much to report). It's funny, but it's like we've got a standoff. Nick is waiting for my parents to say it's OK to travel, and Mom and Dad are waiting for him to tell them if he wants to go OS. I'm in the middle afraid to say anything in case it's the wrong thing!
Oh, and no passport yet. Goddamn clock watchers... of course since it's the weekend no chance of any news from those slackers. And I can't do anything about booking a flight until details are worked out! AARGH! In the meantime, just be patient.
Here's another picture for the time being (the caption is Dad's, BTW). Would you believe it, Rosie is SMILING!
Eliza

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your mail. Please try hard to solve the silence between Mud.Da and Nick. This is in our best interests. I did not get the picture .Could you send it again?
Happy weekend,
Frank.

Eliza Dane

Frank,
I can but try, y'know. I'll be seeing Nick today - so I can try to get him on track.
Mom and Dad are off to bowls with old friends, so not before tonight.
Why is it that pix never work on the first try? I'll attach it again...
Eliza

Another Olsen twins pic. Barrister Frank is impressed.

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your email and the new picture. You and Rosie are really sweet girls. This is the least qualification I could give because you have fantastic looks. I will await further updates and the ultimate goodnews that Nick is finally on our side and mom and dad have given their blessings for your foreign travel. My sincerest regards to you and Rosie.
God bless,
Frank.

PART FOUR

All of a sudden - a change of plan from Barrister George!

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza,
I have goting financier who,has promised to remit money into your account while you pull it and send according to the financier instruction as to have this transaction completed. subsequently, I need you to forward to me again your account information and your telephone number. I have no intension that this transaction will last up till this time without it's completion.
In the meantime,I want to inform you that if you do not have a credit card, what you should do now is to forward to me the Address of your Bank and as well rush now to Open another account with CHASE BANK [Hmm, why Chase Bank? Red herring or not?] and forward to me the bank's details. Or,if you have this Financier is requement you can as well send it,It is faster than to go and open new account this information based on the Master Card you forwarded to me. Please provide this office with the following information as to proceed.
Information of the credit card
information. It must be a major credit card not a debit card.{Master/Visa Card}
1, THE CARD NUMBER:
2,PAYMENT ADDRESS OF YOUR CREDIT
3, DATE OF BIRTH:
4,SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND ADDRESS OF THE CARD HOLDER:
5,THE CARD LIMIT
6,THE ISSUING BANK.
The following information is needed.I am assuring you that once this is done fastly, our transaction will have a stand. Please I need urgent response as time is of the essence.
Await for your urgent response as the Financier is already waiting for these requirements as a means of raising money for us to complete this transaction,so that the principle Fund will be transfered into your nominated account pending my arrival for the sharing. NOTE:IF YOU CAN OPEN THE ACCOUNT TODAY WITH CHASE BANK,I AM ASSURING YOU THAT THE FINANCIER WILL WIRE MONEY INTO IT WITHOUT FUURTHER DELAY.
Regards and waiting forward to hearing from you as time is of the essence.
Frank O. George Esq.

Eliza Dane

Frank,
Does this mean that I won't be going to Amsterdam?
Eliza

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza
If you can come up with this requement there is know need going to Amsterdam. f you can as well send all this today i promise you we well rejice. Regards and waiting forward to hearing from you as time is of the essence.
Frank O. George Esq.

OK! Eliza is cross! She so wants to go to Amsterdam! I checked if JP Morgan Chase had branches in Australia - and as luck would have it, they don't.

Eliza Dane

Frank -
This is ridiculous! I have been doing what you wanted all this time. I've got myself a passport (almost), I have agreement from my parents and Nick... and now you want me to forget all that and just do it via credit card! Boy am I glad I never got around to booking the airline tickets!
I don't have a credit card and there aren't any Chase banks around here (I assume you mean JP Morgan Chase). Even if there were, how could I get a card issued to me as fast as you want to?
And while we're here - why the sudden need for speed? What's happening?
Eliza

So now it's on again for Amsterdam.

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza,
Good to hear from you, thanks for your prompt responce aswell, Since you could not get the credit card information, the next alternative is to travel to amsterdam, I decided for the credit card with intension that you have it already, and it could have been easier for us as well.So since you could not get it, You have to go and get your air line ticket and send to me your flight shedule,And tell me when You are leaving to amsterdam,Meanwhile I will be on my way to the federal capital Abuja to confirm my documents and the cost and time of my deperture to amsterdam.
I am doing all thins cause time is no longer in our favour, and if you have told me that you have almost got your passport I couldnt have gone this far. So please try as much as possible to see you book your air line ticket ,tommorrow or next tommorrow and emmediately update me on the information and time you will be leaving to amsterdam.
Awaiting to hear from you as soon as possible.Thankks for your co-operations.
Frank O. George Esq.

Or is it? I checked if Wells Fargo Bank had branches in Australia - and as luck would have it, they don-t either.

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza,
If you have an account with JP Morgan Chase Bank,go ahead to forward to me all the account details immediately but if you are going to open the JP Morgan Chase newly, you better open an account with WELLS-FARGO BANK and forward to me as well the a/c info as soon as possible as to proceed. If any this requirements,I assure you that this transaction will be as good as completed.
I wouldn't want you to travel again to Amsterdam because of the money involved for the ticket.I want us to follow it through Bank to Bank transfer which I told you earlier that will cost us money due to the Stamp Duty, re-activation of the fund since it has been dormant for a while now. Then, since I have finally concluded with the financier,I would want us to raise this money through our Financier while you promise me of sending the money that will be remitting into the account once you creat it.
As I informed you earlier that financier whom I got that can finance this transaction is ready to be transfering money into the account which you will open or have while you will be pulling and be sending to me for the settlement of the Bank's Bills here, for our fund to be transfered into your account for it pending my arrival for the sharing.
I await for your urgent response.
Frank O.George{Esq}.

Eliza Dane

Frank,
Can you PLEASE make up your damned mind!
You were agreeing with the Amsterdam plan all the way, urging me to get on with getting the passport - then suddenly there you were saying, let's do the bank transfer - when I point out the problems, it's back to Amsterdam - but not any more!
I don't, and can't, have a JP Morgan Chase account. I can't get a Wells Fargo Bank account either.
Both banks only operate in the US. Now you tell me Amsterdam is too expensive. HELLO! You are going to get your hands on six million dollars and you're quibbling about a few thousand, tops! There are times when I wonder if there are two Franks there - the risk-taker and the coward. Then I wonder if this is all some silly practical joke...
Well, I've sorta nailed my colours to the mast here. It's just about certain that I'll be going to Amsterdam anyway, since I've talked Nick and my folks into it. If you still have the balls for this deal, then we can talk. Otherwise, I'm losing patience fast.
Either you come to the party, or you don't.
Eliza

Well, he's back on mission, though I wonder what the hell the first sentence means-

Barrister Frank G. George

Hello my dear,Eliza
I thank you so much for response.
Regards to all this things we are talk about it steel theism thing we are thing about only that you never understand, Regards to the Amsterdam ,As you ask yes that is the best way for us but I think you are not yet raid because there is know time on our side that is why I go on to the financier company . Frank O. George {Esq}.

Eliza Dane

Frank,
If I don't understand it's because you don't tell me enough.
Like I said, you were happy enough to go along with my plan, then suddenly you bring in this financier - about whom I know sweet FA, by the way - and a new scheme that won't work because both of the banks that you want me to use are out of my reach. You talk of the need for speed and time being against us, and you never explain what the problem is. So I am going to Amsterdam? Fine! I made my mind up long ago (<grrr>).
There's the matter of the passports (early next week I think), then visas to be issued, and only then tickets booked, and all the time having to fend off new questions like why I'm seeing Europe in the Northern Hemisphere winter. Looks like this time next week at the earliest.
More as it develops.
Regards,
Eliza Dane

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear,
Thanks for your mail. Your mail give me a lot of confidence, it makes me to know that you are a truthful human being. A person and somebody can relay on. I was only try to know how serious and how truthful you are, regards to our transaction, but I have discovered that your word is your word. For your word remains your word in this transaction. You should try as much as you can to round up fast, to enable you being in Amsterdam earlier, because there is no time again for us. Whenever you round up of your travelling update me, so that I will know my stand. You should try as much as possible to make sure that you leave to Amsterdam this weeks to enable this transaction to come to an end before the 10th November, because the auditing of the bank is approaching meet our transaction which means the transfer of the money into your account will be next year. So my dear, kindly hasten up, because you have make up your mind to meet in Amsterdam, and that is the word of confidence to me. You have now made me not to worry about anything again or stress myself. The only favour you can do to me is update me always, so that I will know the situation of things on your side meanwhile, Iwill always keep you update regards to the successful of this transaction.
Have a nice weekend.
My warmest regards,
Frank O. George (Esq).

Eliza Dane

Frank -
I can't make things move any faster than they already are (ha ha). We're up against public service inertia. Worse, this Tuesday is Cup Day, meaning one day less for those slackarses to get the job done. One they are done, then, and only then, can I make my move, ie get visas and buy tickets. Then I will let you know. I sincerely hope that it's this week.
Best regards,
Eliza

For non-Australians: "Cup Day" is the first Tuesday in November, a public holiday based around a horse race. Yes, that-s right, a horse race.

Scambaiters usually commit crimes against the English language, and Barrister Frank is no exception. "[C]ussion the pressures" indeed!

Barrister Frank G. George

Dearest Eliza,
Many thanks for your mail and reassurance. I was getting so mucg pressure from the bank. That was what make me almost lose my stroke. But from your mail,I quite understand the red-tape of the civil service which is causing the delays.I am satisfied that it is not your fault. I am sorry again if I misunderstood you because of my own desire for things to move faster ocassioned by the pressures from the bank.I will cussion the pressures.I promise!
Please go ahead with your own plans and confirm to me as soon as you are ready to book the tickets,so that I will mount pressures on the bank to use the diplomatic source to move the funds to Amsterdam so that when you arrive there, everything will be ready.
Greetings to Rosie,Nick,Mom and Dad.
Much love,
Frank.

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
How are you doing and how is Nick? I hope mom and Dad are fine too. What is news? Hoping to get a positive feedback in your response.
Happy weekend!
Frank

Let's have another delay. Technical hitch this time.

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank,
Oops, my bad. I should have sent a message last night.
The passport office only yesterday told me that the photos I submitted didn't match up so I have to get fresh ones. AARRGGHH! It's not like they couldn't have told me before I walked into the office and stood in a freaking queue for half an hour!
The long and short of it is, I have to take in fresh pix on Monday. They SAID that with those pix in hand they can issue the passport in a couple of days. But what they SAY and what they DO are not the same, slack-arsed bastards....
That's all for now - sorry it wasn't good news.
Nick is fine. Nick is always fine.
Mom and Dad are pleased for us.
More when I can,
Eliza

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your email and update. I will await more information from you.
Much love,
Frank.

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank,
I should (underline should) be able to pick up my passport tomorrow. Not sure about Nick - if they take the same amount of time, he should get his by next Tuesday.
I hate being kept waiting! I know you know how that feels! I'll be booking on Malaysian Airways as soon as Nick's passport is picked up.
Until then, cross fingers and all that...
Best regards, and thanx for your patience,
Eliza Dane

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza,
I hope that you,Nick,Rosie,Mom and Dad are fine today.
As I informed you earlier,I was at the bank today to enquire if there will be any commitments on your part when you arrive Amsterdam.Thresponse I got was quite good, even though it would involve your spending US$3,150.00 while there.
The bank here said you will not have to spend much because everything about the documentation of the transaction has been concluded and that the office which will pay out the funds to you(Euro Securities and Finance),will receive only US$3,150 (three thousand one hundred and fifty United States Dollars)from you,as their handling charges.
Please let me know the position about your passport and the immigration. Also arrange to have this extra funds so that you will be able to pay the charges of the office that will make payment to you when you arrive there.
My sincere regards to everyone around you.
Yours truly,
Frank.

A quick visit to a tourist site for Amsterdam, and we have all the details required-

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank,
I actually have my passport! (Nick got his on Tuesday. You should have seen how smug he looked...)
OK, from here - the visas are being issued tomorrow. The Dutch consulate was very helpful. Once that's done we'll get our airline tickets, book hotels, etc. I've prepared a tentative itinerary for a stay of ten days in Amsterdam - the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Royal Palace, the Anne Frank House... Nick has picked out our hotel; the Jolly Carlton on Vijzelstraat. Gee, what a fine old Dutch name... : ) Now, which is the bank you're talking about? I've got to design the Scavenger Hunt - you should remember that - and fit the bank into it. What do I do?
$3,150 - I assume I can pay in Euros, right? (It's a lot for some paperwork - still, can't complain, this is for a big payout...) I'll email you when the tickets are booked. Our provisional departure date is the 16th or 17th.
Oh, and I won't be going to Paris what with those riots going on. We will be heading into Belgium - Brugges, Brussels, Ieper and some old Second World War fort called Eben Emael (Nick likes military history). That's not your hassle though.
Gotta go - it's late, have to get some sleep.
Not long now!
Eliza Dane

Frank is clearly in a fever of anticipation and his religious fervour is bubbling forth. Unusually, he-s trying to justify the $3,150 fee - usually they don-t bother to explain.

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza,
It is so nice to read from you after all.I am also happy to learn that both you and Nick are fine and that you already have your Passport and Nick had got t his own yesterday.
It is very also exciting to learn that your visas will be issued today(Wednesday). This is wonderful progress.I am so very happy about all this good news because you had worked hard at it and I know and believe that the Hand of God is in everything we have been arranging.God gave you the wisdom to plan and arrange things the best way possible and this is why we are getting the results we desired long before now.Very good news indeed!
Please let me know and possibly have your airline and full travel schedule after you book your tickets. This is to enable me give the same information to the bank here for onward transmission to their affiliate financial institution in Amsterdam, where the payment of the claim to you, will be executed.According to the bank here,if the bank in Amsterdam has the information before hand, they would send their protocol staff to receive you at the airport when you arrive Amsterdam and drive you to your hotel. This is(I think, but I am not fully sure of that),part of the reason for the charges you will pay in their office in Amsterdam. It is also good to know that you have planned a tentative itinery in Amsterdam. Also good to know,is the fact that Nick is has played the role of picking the hotel where you will stay. This is good because Nick's contribution completes the team work.I sincerely commend you for this.I do appreciate how much you have worked to conscript Nick and make mom and dad accept to your idea of Amsterdam. You are a wonderful younger sister indeed! The bank here in Nigeria is Universal Trust Bank,UTB PLC.The name of the bank/financial institution in Amsterdam as I got it from the bank here after I read your mail,is: Euro Security & Finance Company,World Trade Centre,Amsterdam, Netherlands. But since the bank in Amsterdam will make arangements to pick you up at the airport, you might not need to go on any scavenger hunt. The bank here has been waiting on me to confirm that you are read to travel and they will release the necessary payment instructions which I will receive a copy of it and send it you.And this letter will have all the necessary information with which you will contact the office in Amsterdam, including the name of the officer who will be in charge of the paymen to you.
According to the bank here, all you need to do when you receive the payment instructions,is to contact the officer in Euro Security and Finance Company and strike a working rapport with him and he will give you all the assistance you will need to ensure that the payment is effected to you without any problems at all.The officer will also guide you through whatever you are required to do.
The bank here siad you could pay the US$3,150 in Euros, but you should also confirm this from the officer in charge of your payment after you receive the payment instructions and contact him. I have noted that you proposed depature date is the 16th of 17th.I will therefore work hard to ensure that the bank here releases the payment instructionsby tomorrow at the latest,to assist you to be in touch with the bank in Amsterdam a couple of days, before your departure. If I receive the payment instructions tomorrow,I will send same to you immediately.
It is really a pity that you might not go to Paris now because of the riots. This is quite disappointng. But there is always a future time when one could do anything one was unable to do in the past. The idea of the trip to Belgium is also quite fascinating. For his understanding and support, please by all means, let Nick have a dose of everything he wants, including military history and excursion.I am all for it.
While I await your next update,I will be looking forward to meeting you soon. My sincerest regards to you specially for a job well done, and to Nick, mom and dad.Not to forget Rosie.I just cannot wait to meet you all very very soon.
Much love,
Frank George Esq.

Protocol staff? WTF? That'll screw everything up! Get rid of them! Oh, and didn't I say I was booking with Malaysian Airways?

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank,
I thought we were going to do this business subtly, and now the bank's protocol staff are going to meet us at the airport? For God's sake, no! If Nick gets any hint that this trip is anything other than a pleasure jaunt, he'll go spare! No, no, not the airport. Let them contact me at the Hotel and arrange a meeting there perhaps. Just ask for Ms Elizabeth Dane (I'll leave word with the front desk that I may be contacted).
We'll be flying Qantas, departing Sydney on the 16th and most likely arriving at Schiphol on the 18th, depending on stopovers. I'll send the flight details on Monday. Please don't spring anything like that on me again. I'm worked up enough as it is preparing (packing mainly). You've done a good job when all is said and done, and I want this to work.
See you soon!
Eliza

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your mail and caution.
I am sorry if I made you curious by the contents of my email of yesterday concerning the bank's procedures. This will be adjusted to suit your idiosyncracies.
You are such a self-efacing personality.I have noted your position on the issue of the bank's protocol procedures and I am rushing out to the bank now to warn them against including that on their brief to the paying bank in Amsterdam.
Now that I also understand what you want better,be assured that I will liaise with the bank here and, except you think is it necessary that you receive a copy of it,the payment instructions might just be passed on to the paying bank in Amsterdam without any copy being sent to you especially if you do not want Nick to see it.
I might just receive the full contact information of the bank in Amsterdam and the officer that would be responsible for the payment to you from the bank here and pass it on to you by email so that you could contact him by email before you leave Australia and arrange on how he will meet with you when you arrive your hotel in Amsterdam. What do you think about this suggestion?
Please let me get your resopnse urgently to allow me enough time to get things better arranged from here.Ok!
Best regards,
Frank.

Eliza Dane

Frank,
You're very prompt. This is very good! I have to be brief because Nick will be here very soon. I agree, get the details on the Amsterdam bank guy to me ASAP.
See ya!
Eliza

Eliza Dane

Frank,
Please send the letter to me. What should I tell Mr. Clark, if I do get in touch? What does he need to know? What should be done before I reach Amsterdam?
I'm going to have a frantic few days before departure - please advise me ASAP.
Eliza

Eliza Dane

Frank,
Quick update: We'll be on QF 3373 arriving Schiphol Airport at about 4 pm on the 18th of November. We'll likely be going straight to the Hotel (the Jolly Carlton on Vijzelstraat - remember that!).
We've never travelled this far before and I don't know if we'll be jetlagged. So if any contact is to be made, hold off until (say) the 20th. I shouldn't have to remind you (but I'm going to) BE DISCREET! If they tell you that Ms. Elizabeth Dane is not available, do not let them put you through to Mr. Nikos Speleotis, whatever you do!
I was going to contact Mr. Clark, but I'd prefer to keep this between us, you know? ; ) If there are any more details make sure they reach me on or before the 15th. I haven't had time to set up a gmail account so we'll be out of touch after that.
A lot's riding on you! Don't let us down!
I'm excited!
Eliza

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Many thanks for your two quick emails of yesterday.I was not in my office yesterday when your mails arrived because I attended a mariage ceremoney of one of my very close friend's daughter. From the Bank letter which I have attached for your information here you will get answers to your questions in your mail. You will observe from the letter that Mr.Jack and his office also should have a copy of this letter already. So,part of what you MUST do before you arrive Amsterdam,is to contact Mr.Jack and inform him your flgiht scedule and request him to come to your hotel as from the 20th in case you are jet lagged. It also important that you prepare his mind that you are goingto be discreet about the meeting with him because you have company whom you are averse to his knowing about the payment you are coming to receive from his office. From all indications,Mr.Jack could be a banker and a consultant on financial maters and he should know that it is serious business. You should therefore feel free to contact him by either email or telephone and ask him what you need to do when you arrive Amsterdam. He is in the best position to tell you this.
From the bank letter,I could read that you will need to send to Mr.Jack some portion of your passport for identification before you get to Amsterdam where you will be required to again show him the same passport as identification. So you should scan the indicated portions of your passport and send to him as attachment by email(just as I am sending you the bank letter here.
I have also noted your flight schedule as : QF 3373 arriving Schiphol Airport at about 4 pm on the 18th of November. You did not however, indicate on which airline the flight is booked. Is it Australian Airline? Please confirm this both to me and to Mr.Jack.I do understand that you do not want anybody to receive you at the airport, but as an officer given the responsibility to make payment of your inheritance,I feel that he should have this information, only you could add a proviso that he should not bother to make any protocol arrangements to pick you at the airport, for the same reason that you do not want the person inyour company to know that you have some other business in Amsterdam that the one between you and him.
As you could see, there is every need for you to contact Mr.Jack,at least by email and get familiar with him so that he will give you his best attention and understand the protections you desire. Before now,and because I know how hard you have worked to ensure the trip takes place, you will observe also that I have not bothered you with issues of the security of the funds and my protion, after you receive the payment. This is because,I did not want to complicate matter as you were cracking your head to put the whole plan together.I have been trusting you so much, but I really do not know why.I want to still believe that with the money in your custody,my portion is secure and I have nothing to be afraid of.This is quite important to me,but because I have followed your great arrangements with confidence,I will allow my fears to disappear and hope that you will not let me down either. If it is possible, you must set up a qmail address so that we could be in touch even while you are in Amsterdam. You could also roam your telephone and give me the number so that I could call and speak with you when you are in Amsterdam.
After you confirm to me that you have received the payment,I will email to you the text of a letter of invitation which you will either type or print, sgn and sent it back to me,so that I could process and secure my travel visa to meet with you in Australia for the post transaction nvestment activities.I intend to invest a major part of my portion in real estate and imports to Africa, from Australia and New Zealand.I also hope to invest on charity,as appreciation to Almghty God who has made this golden opportunity, possible.Thereore, look out for good investment profiles in Australia so that when we meet very soon, you will give me the feasibility studies and I will assess them and decide on which other areas to invest in besides real estate, which is my prime choice. Expecting to read from you again tomorrow.
Loking forward to meeting you very soon.
Much love,
Frank.

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank,
We're cutting this awfully close, y'know. And we're not out of the woods yet. First up, I did say what airline we were arriving on - Qantas (that's the national carrier, y'know). I mentioned it before, just not in the same message as the flight number. I don't have access to a scanner so I can't send him any part of my passport - I'll have to arrange something else. Perhaps a test question or something. You can give Mr. Clark a copy of my picture, at least.
Actually, you've got me puzzled now. "From all indications,Mr.Jack could be a banker and a consultant on financial maters" - you don't know? You could have asked. I don't think he'd have minded putting you straight...I haven't had the chance to set up a gmail account and I don't have a mobile phone. I'll be flying solo on this one and you'll have to trust me. I've trusted you so far, I still do - I'm heading halfway around the world and risking the alienation of the man I love - so trust me this last bit. I'm not greedy. You will get your share. I'll do whatever I can do to make this work. I want this to work SO MUCH.
So soon!
Eliza

Eliza Dane

To Mr. Jimmy Clark:
In accordance with the instructions given to me by Barrister Frank George, I wish to make arrangements for the release of my inheritance.
At this late stage I am unable to supply a copy of my passport as requested. I would suggest that an alternate method be arranged to confirm my identity - perhaps one or more test questions? In any event, Barrister George can supply a photograph as needed.
I am arriving with my friend Nikos Speleotis on Qantas Flight QF 3373 at Schiphol Airport at about 4 pm on the 18th of November. For personal reasons I do not want any overt contact in the presence of Mr Speleotis; therefore I do not want to be met at the airport. Contact should be made at the hotel, the Jolly Carlton on Vijzelstraat, where we will be registered as Mr Nikos Speleotis and Ms Eliza Dane. Please keep it discreet.
Please be quick with any further details, questions, and so on, as departure is in two days.
Regards,
Eliza Dane

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. Clark,
I have a suggestion for a test question that may make up for the lack of picture ID. You ask me my name, I give it in full (Elizabeth Danielle Dane) and you then ask me what my favourite flower is. I then reply, "The Wild Rose". Will that do? I hope so.
BTW, I was surprised to notice the date on the scanned form you sent - it reads "11 November 2001". That can't be right. I think you'd better correct it, and soon, as we leave in two days.
Regards,
Eliza Dane

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza,
Many thanks for your three emails.
I am satisfied that you are finally in touch with Mr.Jack. Sorry if the way I expressed my only feeling of insecurity upset you.I am sincerely sorry because your answer has invoked in me,a greater personal conviction and a realisation that we are already ordained to succeed together.I believe that you are not greedy and based on this,I accept your lone trip to Amsterdam and await the good news from you that you have received the claim payment. After that, other arrangements would follow. I have noted that you cannot send Mr.Jack any part of your passport because you do not have a scanner.I think your suggestion for me to send him your picture is ok,if he accepts that. Also, your idea of the test question(s) is ok,if these are acceptable to Mr.Jack. I will suggest that you insist to him to accept these. On my part,I will be rushing off to the bank after sending out this mail to you,so that I could talk to the bank manager about this to see if he could chip in a word to Mr.Jack,to make the appeal on your behalf, more formal. Keep me updated of any communication you have with Mr.Jack before your departure from Australia. Greetings to mom, dad,Nick,Rosie and everybody around you.
Much love,
Frank.

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank,
YOU'RE satisfied? I'm freaking relieved! Another hurdle surmounted, just that little bit closer... Soon we will both be rich (just saying that in reassurance).
Thanx for your ongoing work. You deserve every bit that's coming your way. We'll both be happy. I'll get in touch with Mr. Clarke again and I'll keep cc-ing you. Last things to do, then...
Eliza

And now a word from "Jimmy Clark" who subtly changes the fee from US dollars to Euros.

Jimmy Clark

Dear Madam,
This is to acknowledge the receipt of your mail relating to the payment of your fund. All information as contained in the mail is noted and will be taken care of. For easier return of the Verification Form M4, scan and attach or clearly type all the information to the body of your mail to us. In order to avoid any delay in the payment, we request you to have the following requirements at hand when coming to our office:
1. A valid identification (international passport or driving license)
2. An authorizing letter or approval letter from Universal Trust Bank
3. Our handling charges of 3,150 euro plus an accrued tax of 750 euro, totaling 3,900 euro.

We are wishing you a safe flight to Amsterdam.

Operations Manager

PART FIVE: THE KISS-OFF

Eliza really is unprepared for this sort of business - no fax, no scanner, no colour printer...

Eliza Dane

Dear Mr. Clark,
I'm sorry to have to admit to a further shortcoming, but I don't have access to a scanner (as mentioned previously), and likewise no fax. That means I won't be able to send the completed document to you - would it be all right if I presented it to you when I arrive at the Security Firm (however this is arranged)?
I have the passport, I will get the money (the tax seems a little high - oh well) - I will have to confirm if I have the right letter for this.
Barrister George is receiving a cc of this - Frank, do I have the right letter already or will you have to send it to me? This may be a problem if I have to get a hard copy as I don't have a colour printer.
I hope to be speaking to you in a few days.
Regards,
Eliza Dane

Whoever was writing for James Clark had a far better grasp of English that the Lad playing "Barrister George".

Jimmy Clark

Attention: Mrs. Elizabeth Dane
Dear Madam,
We regret to inform you that we do not accept your dictates as suggested by you regarding processing and verification of your fund payment. As a standard under our policy and bearing in mind the huge amount of money involved, due verification must be made before such payment is transacted. We therefore, request you to complete the Verification Form M4 and return accordingly. It may not be necessary to scan or fax the completed form. You can clearly type all the required information as contained in the form in the body of your mail to us. Please be informed that your fund may not be processed and paid without the completion and return of this form.
It may not be necessary to scan and forward any of your documents at this stage. You will only identify yourself (valid identification) to the paying officer during payment plus the other remaining items. A print out or photocopy of the letter from the Universal Trust Bank Plc is acceptable.
We have taken into cognisance your request pertaining meeting you in Amsterdam. You should therefore keep in constant touch with us before and after your arrival in Amsterdam in order to place a suitable appointment for meeting you. As a respectable customer of us, we would be very pleased to offer you any form of assistance in further transactions with your money. Our investment experts are ready to offer you profitable investment advice on no cost.
We hope you will appreciate our diligence in to serve you better.
With much regards,
Jimmy Clark
Operations Manager

Eliza Dane

Mr. Clark:
Here's the information you requested reference the Form M4.
I'm afraid that I haven't been able to get scanning done - I have been able to get a printout and I'll fill it out and bring it with me so you can confirm it with this.

I think that calling my (reasonable) suggestions 'dictates' is a little unfair - they were serious attempts to resolve a problem. However, I'll do as you say. I cannot say when I can get in touch with you during my visit - I'll call at my first clear opportunity and arrange an appointment.
Regards,
Eliza Dane

There is no Westmoreland Avenue in Glebe, the telephone number is fake, and I stuck a 419 in the (fake) account number...

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
Thanks for your update email.
Please note that you already have the authorising/approval(the bank letter I sent to you earlier) letter. As I hinted you earlier today,I went to the bank and the manager promised me that he would get across to Mr Jack and appeal to him on your behalf to accept whatever item of identification you present to him, including your picture. The bank manager did not hide his excitement that finally, the heiress of the late Alan Dane has come up to receivve his estate. This is a big plus to his bank, that they are able to settle this inheritance. I would suggest that if the bank in Amsterdam insists, you should go to a commercial busines center(any office that renders business services such as scanning, fax serviices etc)now that you still have the time, with the filled Verification Form M4, and your Passport and request them to scan your passport, and the Verification Form M4 for you ad any other document the office in Amsterdam needs from you,by tomorrow(15/11/2005),so that the business center could assist you to scan and and send across the whole information to Amsterdam, before you travel on Wednesday. However,if this is not possible, please appeal to Mr Clark for you to show him all this when you arrive Amsterdam. I could still forward your picture to Mr Clark,if you give mem the go-ahead. I know we have only tomorrow to round off all email contacts before you travel to Amsterdam, considering the difference in our time zones.
I will arrive my office early tomorrow morning to check my email to see if you got back to me this again. But,as I already confirmed to you,you already have all the identification/documentation Mr Jark requires. If it is possible, use the services of a business center to send him the attachments he requested for.If this is not possible, inform him that you will do so when you are in Amsterdam. I will anxiously await your reply with further updates.
Much love,
Frank.

Let's see if we can get Barrister Frank thinking that Eliza really, really likes him...

Eliza Dane

Frank:
My bad - I did have the bank letter - I'd saved it in a file I don't normally use for pictures. Sorry if I spooked you... I've contacted Mr Clark and sent him the details he needs - I'll print off a copy of the form and fill it out by hand and bring it with me. Aagh - that's so last century, dude... so last millennium... AFAIK it's OK if I do that. It'd better be!
By all means send Mr Clark the picture(s) - you choose which one. And make sure you point out which one in the picture(s) is me.
I think this is the last message I can send or receive before I go. It's in the lap of the gods now.

Love and kisses,
Eliza
PS Oh hell - I forgot to tell you this before - we are staying in Amsterdam 10 days. That's got to be enough time!

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
I hope you will still be able to read this mail before you leave Australia. I have read your two emails, including the one you sent to Mr.Jack which I think is ok,as far as it is acceptable to him,as I think it should since he it was who suggested that you send the information pasted to as part of an email,if you could not scan and send the forms for lack of time. However,I feel and advise that you should make every effort to strike a rapport with Mr.Jack since he is in charge of affairs at the other end.It will be unfriendly to write or speak harsh language to him.It is in fact, you that should show a deep interest in gettig things done the right way, since you are the beneficiary, even of his own guidance.Doing otherwise, might raise suspicions or make him not very cooperative. It also sounds way out and non-commital to write to Mr.Jack that you will contact him and set up an appointment only when it is convenient for you.I am aware that you have said this because of the protections we already discussed, but you could qualify the statement better,so that it would not sound you out as unserious,to Mr Jack.First impressions always matter.
Be assured that I will certainly send him the picture andpoint out to him the one that is you.Ok.I will keep my fingers crossed and expect the good news from you. Wishing you and Nick,a safe journey and Goodluck!
Sincerely,
Frank.

Eliza Dane

Dear Frank,
I'll have to be quick. I'm all a-tingle!
"However,I feel and advise that you should make every effort to strike a rapport with Mr.Jack since he is in charge of affairs at the other end." I can do that easy!
"It will be unfriendly to write or speak harsh language to him." Why would I do that?
"It also sounds way out and non-commital to write to Mr.Jack that you will contact him and set up an appointment only when it is convenient for you." Frank, I'm not following a script here. There's a reason for why I told him that (which you know well). As long as I have the ID, he should have no reason to decline to give me the money. I don't understand why I have to schmooze him. I just have to be businesslike. He'll understand that, won't he?
Finally preparations, then - off we go!
Love and kisses,
Eliza

Whoever was writing for Monica Henks also had a far better grasp of English that the one playing Barrister George... Hmmm.... Were Jimmy and Monica the same Lad, I wonder?

Dear Madam,
I have seen your completed verification form M4 which you sent to our office. I was also informed that your form was vetted and approved by the concern department. That is a perfect development. You have to make sure you contact us as early as possible on your arrival to place an appointment when you will receive your payment.

Dear Mr Clark,
That is great news!

I'm very pleased with your willingness to go along with my side of the deal so I will do my best to return the favour.

Eliza Dane

Barrister Frank G. George

I quite understood the points you raised in your mail and I believe that you are right.I am satisfied by your promise to cooperate with Mr.Jack.We do not have an option because we stand to gain immensely from such an attitude. He is only a third party, but the money belongs to us.

Eliza is back, with bad news for Frank. She has her excuses in place.

Eliza Dane

Hello Frank,
Ah, I see you met Rosie...
Well, as a business trip, it was a great holiday. Nick and I even got engaged (in the main square at Brugges - romantic place, too). But all the time in Amsterdam he had his eye on me. I couldn't pick up a phone without him noticing. There was no word from the front desk either (that was the back-up plan). I hope that Mr. Clark isn't too annoyed - though he wasn't so pissed off that he could think to email me.
I'm sorry it all went wrong. What are you going to do now?
Eliza

Well, he's trying to put a brave face on things. Eliza's inability to communicate (no mobile, no g-mail) made things difficult for him. Damn!

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
I did not quite understand your email very well, but it is so nice to read from you again after such a long suspense you put me through.I am happy that both you and Nick got engaged in Brugges, and that you liked the place
I want the good news!Where is the money? How did it go with Mr.Clark? It was only from Rosie that I got to know you and Nick may have left Amsterdam.I am aware that you hinted me of the Belgium possibility, but because I had now way to reach you,I was more like a blind man down here hoping against hopes. But I am glad that you are well and that you enjoyed your trip.
I am so happy that you did not disappoint me.You are a great and trustworthy person indeed. You kept your word that you will not let me down.It feels very great to know that though there is no emotional relationship between us,you kept my trust in you and did not run away with the money. You are a good person indeed as Rosie said.. Please let me know how it went between you and Mr.Clark,so that you could send me a letter of invitation with which I would apply for my visa to Australia and join you and Nick immediately for the disbursement of the money and investments.Thank goodness I will eventually be able to grace the occasion of your wedding to Nick. This will be a great experience!
I cannot wait to join you and Nick,so that I could enjoy the good life too.
Expecting your confirmations about our business deal.
Yours truly,
Frank.

Eliza Dane

Frank,
Um - there is no good news - didn't you read my email? This bit in particular? "I'm sorry it all went wrong. What are you going to do now?"
I should have brought Nick in on the deal. Thanks to all that fucking cloak and dagger crap I couldn't contact Jimmy Clark. No money. It was a total FUBAR. I'm really sorry.
Eliza

He claims to have rung the number and it rang out, but that is impossible as the number doesn't connect. He can't even dial properly!
And he's still trying to recover the situation. Points for effort, I guess...

Barrister Frank G. George

Dearest Eliza,
Thanks so much for your very quick response to my earlier email.I hope you are not so much jetlagged.
I had called your indicated telephone but nobody answered the telephone which kept rigning. I read your email again and when I fully understood that you had not received the money,I was very sad,but considering that you explained everything to me before you departed for Amsterdam,I pulled myself together and decided to contact an oficer of the bank here to make enquiries as to the way forward.
The bank officer I spoke to seemed worried about the delay. He said that such payment should have been swift and no delays as eye brows could be raised by the finance company in Amsterdam. He said that going to Amsterdam couldn't have made much difference because the finance company has been instructed to pay you and that from the bank in Lagos, it is assumed that the money has already been paid.
Therefore, I suggest that you contact the finance company (Mr. Jimmy Clark) immediately, plead with him with excuses and ask him what you can do in order to get the money in your bank account. If possible let them transfer the money to your account direct immediately.
I am waiting to get a feed back from you on the result of your contact with Mr.Clark.And since you did not invlove Nick from the on set,I do not know what to think now.Maybe you should exercise some patience and let us see how Mr.Jimmy responds after you contact him before you talk to Nick about it.Or what do you think?
Please act urgently.
I am anxiously waiting to hear from you again. And,please confirm that I could call to talk with you on telephone. This is very important.
Frank.

Start the kiss off...

Eliza Dane

I spoke to Nick about getting his help - and he opened my eyes to your plan.
How the hell could I have been so stupid?

Good god, one track mind. What does it take?

Barrister Frank G. George

Eliza,
I did not understand the meaning of your mail. Please explain.
And,as advised, let me know what is Mr.Clark's response after you contact him.
Frank.

Now do you get it, Frank?

Eliza Dane

Don't lie to me! I know what you were after!
And if I do contact that Jimmy Clark I'll tell him what I told you!
You're evil!

Nick, you're wanted...

Nick

Hey you whatever your real name is
This is Nick.
You just made Liza cry.
Someone who makes Liza cry, I want to make him cry.
Don't make her cry again.

Anyone got a violin? This is truly tear-jerking...

Barrister Frank G. George

Hello Eliza and Nick,
I want to start this mail by thanking both of you for your mails and especially Nick, because he is just starting a contact with me.Nick's feelings are very natural because he has just discovered that a secret was kept from him, which was not good. This is why Nick sounds suspicious which is not his fault. Having said that I also want to emphasize that this is coming direct from my heart. It is a pity if what has happened made Eliza cry.But right from the onset I advised that Nick MUST be told about everything.
God knows that I have no intention of breaking the very strong relationship between both of you.In fact,I cherish it and pray that God will continue to be your strenght, even as you prepare to get oficially married and live together as husband and wife.I am still hoping that I will be privileged to witness your wedding soon.
Now let us get the records straight:Eliza has also made me to cry.In fact,I am still crying because Eliza is almost about to throw my future and that of my children away because of a slip in her earlier decisions.Had she accepted my advice to talk to Nick about it,everything would have worked out in our favour and.
But from what is on the ground, nothing has gone wrong yet.Whatever proof Nick wants would be provided.
However,I will not accept any accusation that I am eveil because it cannot be substantiated.
Let me know your position please.
Frank.

Eliza Dane/ Rosie Childe/"Nick"

OK, on that note I'm declaring the business closed.

Barrister George is starting to look more like one of those Death Teenager Movie bogey-men, he just will not admit it's over!

Barrister Frank G. George

Dear Eliza and Nick,
Thank you again for your patience and maybe, understanding(I doubt if you have really understood that I meant no harm in the first instance).
I quite acknowledge the way you feel about the whole thing. Please I have already tendered my sincere apologies. I do not mean or intend any harm. I hope you will accept my pleading. However, whatever is your position in furthering your assistance in this venture, will be fully acceptable and respected. But what I will not accept is you having bad blood against me and consequently getting the whole transaction scuttled.
Please in whatever action you would wish to take, whether withdrawing your assistance or not, never let the bank (Mr. Jimmy Clark) have any reason to suspect that this fund is ill gotten. Let none of your contact with him be negative or pose hindrance in recovering the fund. Frankly speaking, this fund originated from here, in one of our local banks. We have the intention to approaching the recovery of the money through another means. I may be traveling to Amsterdam within the coming week. Finally, I still respect your feelings and hope to compensate you enormously with a substantial amount when I have gotten this money paid to me. This will be if you will stop at this moment and not create further damage to the success of the claim. I need to prove your feelings wrong.
Please let your letter to the bank (Mr. Jimmy Clark) ready with excuses "that you are unable to effect the withdrawal of the money by coming to Amsterdam as previously scheduled. However, the bank UTB Plc. will be contacting you further with instructions on how to deal with the money. Please accept my sincere shortcomings".
I appeal to you once more to at least make this last effort to safe guard the funds(assuming you are withdrawing your suport and assistance). But if you and Nick will remain with me as a team, please write to Mr.Jimmy Clark and request him to let you know of any way forward that will culminate in your receiving the claim funds,as was the programmed which took you to Amsterdam
I will await your usual quick response.
Sincerest regards to you and Nick,
Frank.

Let's leave him no doubt.

Eliza Dane/ Rosie Childe/"Nick"

WTF? You still there?
OK, I guess I have to spell it out in really simple terms...
Eliza, Rosie and Nick don't exist. There is only me.
I know that you are a 419 scammer, a run-of-the-mill mugu. There is no money involved in this save what you intended to get out of me by whatever means. You were mine to toy with from the git-go, mugu boy, and it was fun all the way.
Several of my friends know you well now - what laughs we all had as you did whatever dear little Eliza said. But Eliza doesn't exist, you mugu deadbeat.
Bye Frank, you total mugu, and don't you feel... OWNED?

And that's all there was.
Not even a Fulk You.

More to come?
