This movie is about the Nigerian Civil war (Biafra). The Nigerian Civil War broke out on 6 July 1967. Please get back to me with the above mentioned information so that I can then transfer you to our casting director. Registrations will soon end so I would kindly advice you take immediate actions by getting those information over to me. Daniel Wright. Gene Rayburn Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2007 Hello Daniel, Thank you so much for replying! I am very excited about the opportunity to work with such famous people! I am confused about your request for information. I had assumed that you had written to me because you already knew about me. Did you send this e-mail to many people, or are you interested in me? What are the chances I will get this role? I'm not really interested in a cattle call. Can you assure me that I will get preferential treatment? I'm not in this for the money, as I already have all that I need. I am interested in being a movie star, though! However, I am not accustomed to massive auditions where I would be competing with commoners. Thanks again, Gene Daniel Wright Sent : Monday, March 26, 2007 Hello Gene Thanks for your reply. The request for information is for record purposes like opening a file for each actor. We may know you a little about you but we still require you to fill us more about you. Yes we also sent this mail to some other candidates who are interested as well; we are looking for good talents to fill in the remaining roles that we have left in the movie. If you work hard enough I think you might make it through the auditioning processes but for preferential treatment, I think I can put on a word for you to our casting director but getting the role all depends on you and how serious you want the role. Think about it and send us the information we asked for. I hope to hear from you soon. Daniel Wright. Gene Rayburn Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2007 Dear Daniel, Of course I am serious about this role! I would like whatever preferential treatment you can arrange. My work here is done, good luck and best wishes with your auditions. Regards, Daniel Wright. Gene Rayburn To: eddie275@gmail.com Subject: Reference Number NGR5600L Date: Tue, 27 Mar 2007 Hello Eddie, Mr. Daniel Wright has put me in touch with you so that we may go through the formality of filling out an "application" for my starring role in this movie. (We all know that this process is strictly perfunctory, and the role is mine for the taking, right?) As I mentioned do Mr. Wright, I am very excited about doing this. Since I am now comfortable in life and have no need for more money, I am trying to do adventurous and exciting things. This opportunity fits well. I need to know where the principal shooting will take place. Will it be on location in Nigeria, or in Hollywood? I would also like to discuss my trailer and certain "amenities" to which I have grown accustomed. Are you the best person to whom I should bring these requirements? I look forward to working with you and your team. Sincerely, Gene Eddie Curtis From : Eddie Curtis <eddie275@gmail.com> Sent : Wednesday, March 28, 2007 Gene, Thank you very much for deciding to join our auditioning program, I must tell you it has not been easy for us here. There are lots of young talents out there to be discovered and we make it our prime objective to look for them and give them the opportunity they truly deserve. We have over 500 candidates applying for a spot in this movie but we need only six of you which means we are only looking for the best. Out of the six remaining spots there are still two key characters available for grabs so if you work hard enough you might be among the lucky ones to get the part. We are going to send you a temporal form for you to fill now, please fill it carefully for it will be used to access you. We will be sending you the complete package consisting of your application form, script, traveling documents etc later i.e. when we are sure you are the right person for the part. For each available part we have we will be inviting five candidates for the finale auditions in Lagos Nigeria so I must inform you, its going to be a bumpy ride all the way to the last audition day. This trip to Nigeria will be sponsored by universal studios i.e. your hotel accommodation and flight will be paid for by us so you don't have to bug yourself about the bills. I wish you good luck with your efforts and believe with hard work and dedication you can achieve a lot. We will be sending you an application form to fill, as soon as you get it fill it and send it back to us. We will discuss about your amenities when you get the part, we will need to see what you are made of. Regards, Eddie Curtis. Gene Rayburn Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2007 Dear Eddie, It is so great to hear from you! I imagine that being a casting director for Universal Studios is a very busy job, so I appreciate your time. I am really looking forward to working with you on this project. I received your initial e-mail and await the application. I take it from your note that the principal shooting will be this summer in Lagos, Nigeria? That sounds amazing! Can you tell me something about what the weather is like there at that time? Will I need a heavy coat, or will a jacket do. Also, as I mentioned in my earlier letter, I have certain requirements with respect to my trailer and other facilities. Can I forward these your way? Again, I appreciate the time. "I'm ready for my close-up!" Like I have already stated, the auditions will be taking place in Lagos Nigeria, also your travel expenses will be taken care of by us. Regarding your trailer and the "amenities" to which you have grown accustomed, I will like to know what they are really to enable us plan better since it is our duty to make everybody comfortable. Nigeria is in the tropics and the weather is a little bit sunny and warm but I adjusted well. Generally the weather at that period will be likened to summer in Texas. I suppose you know what will be good for you. Thank you for helping us to make you comfortable. Best wishes, Eddie Gene Rayburn Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2007 Dearest Eddie, Thanks again for your prompt response. I'm really thrilled that you people are taking so much care to ensure my comfort. In general, I require a 24' Strait Truck for use as my trailer. I can forward you my requested brands if you need them. Inside the truck I will need a standard makeup station, with full lights. I intend to bring my own makeup artist, as well as my own Chinese Shar Pei. For my own dining purposes, I only eat raw food. Please see the menu at my favorite restaurant at http://www.huvafenfushi.com/pdf/All_Menu/Raw_Food_Menu.pdf I would be happy with any number of choices from there. Unfortunately, the Shar Pei will only eat cooked meats. I shall look for some local eateries in Lagos and suggest a place where you can find take out for him. As I have many allergies, it is of the utmost importance that there are no flowers of any kind in the trailer. In addition, I am allergic to nuts, strawberries, rawhide-coated baseballs, polyurethane, and Protactinium. I'm accustomed to all of my drinks being served to me in a 14.5oz cup, with a "bendy" straw-- that is a straw that bends 4/5ths of the way towards the top so as to make for easy sipping. How long will principal photography last? I need to know if it will run afoul of my neighborhood watch annual meeting. You mentioned that you were able to adapt to the weather change. Does this mean you are currently in Nigeria? If so, what are your hours of working? I imagine the time difference must be at least 30 hours? More to come. Sincerely, Gene Eddie Curtis Sent : Thursday, March 29, 2007 We are sorry we can't satisfy your needs, if you really want to be a part of this auditions then you have to make do without your amenities for the audition is not going to last a life time. If you are still interested please do get in touch. Gene Rayburn Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2007 Dear Eddie, First of all, I am shocked at the tone of your message! I hope that you didn't take my requirements in the wrong way. You asked me for my expectations, and I gave them to you. Third of all, what sort of movie are you running? My understanding of the way high budget pictures work is that the stars can get this sort of accommodation with no problem. Keep in mind that I'm not asking for these things for the audition...just once principal shooting begins. I don't think my requests are very unusual. For example, see http://www.thesmokinggun.com/backstagetour/mariah/mariah2.html for the list of requests for Mariah Carey when she performs. I was surprised to find that she has the same love for bendy straws as I do. In any case, I am still interested in moving forward with the process. As I mentioned, none of these requirements are necessary for the audition. Are you in Nigeria right now? Please let me know the next steps. Eddie Curtis Sent : Thursday, March 29, 2007 We still require additional information from you to enable us process your application form better, this will help us pick the most qualified candidates for the parts we have left. This selection process has not been easy at all for us because we know there are lots of young talents out there and we won't like to mess it up by chosen the wrong candidates. Below are some questions we will like you to answer, please take you time to answer these questions and get back to us before the day ends. 1. Why do you think you are the next movie star? 2. To what extent can you go for your acting career? 3. A personal mission statement describing your personal goals 4. Is your family/loved ones supportive of your acting career and to what extent have they gone to help? 5. Is it convenient for you to leave/travel out of the country to do a movie? 6. Do you have any special needs health wise/medically or is there anything you think we should know about you? Am sorry if i was a little hard on you the last time i wrote, i have been busy all day trying to cordinate thing here. Yes am in Nigeria trying to put everything into place before the audition begings in about 2 weeks time. I will see how i can help you out. Please i will still need some pictures of you also, send us at least three head shots pictures of you. Eddy Curtis Gene Rayburn Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2007 >1.Why do you think you are the next movie star? It's not why I think I will be the next movie star--It's why I know I will be the next movie star. I have overcome many difficulties in my life: Illness (Rhinovirus, etc.), Poverty (B&W TV, etc.), Hunger and others. If I can overcome these things, I know I can win this. In addition, I can take these experiences and harness them to deliver a performance that nobody will ever forget. >2.To what extent can you go for your acting career? I will do most anything for my acting career. I will even do frontal nudity, but not rear. >3.A personal mission statement describing your personal goals As I have mentioned in previous e-mail, I have already achieved most of my personal goals. I have made all of the money I will ever need, and my current goals all revolve around enjoying life. I want to do things that challenge myself. So, in closing, my mission is to eat cheese (so to speak) >4.Is your family/loved ones supportive of your acting career and to >what extent have they gone to help? I've lost everyone who was once important to me. Money does that to people. >5.Is it convenient for you to leave/travel out of the country to do >a movie? Not only is it convenient, it is imperative. I'd rather not get into the details of that. >6. Do you have any special needs health wise/medically or is there >anything you think we should know about you? I have already given you my requirements for once principal shooting begins. There's plenty you should know about me, but all will be become clear over time. Gene >Eddy Curtis P.S. Is it Eddy or Eddie?? Eddie Curtis Date: Mon, 02 Apr 2007 Hello Eddy, It's now April, and I'm wondering about flight arrangements. Are there vaccinations that I need to get before I travel? I also need to clear my schedule for the days I'll be gone. As I mentioned, I have several neighborhood watch meetings I need to attend. Sincerely, Gene Daniel Wright Sent : Tuesday, April 3, 2007 Congratulations you are among the few candidates short listed for the Lagos auditions. Like I said before it's not going to be easy out there and we expect the best from you. We invested a lot in this project and will like you to be part of the team. We believe most of you out there are not professional so we have taken the time to make the process a lot easier for you. A day to the auditions we are organizing a trip to various shot locations for the movie for you to have a feel of a real movie scenario. We believe it will inspire you to do much better and once we achieve that our work will be a lot easier. We expect you to be in Lagos two days before the auditions; we will be mailing you a parcel containing the necessary documents needed for the auditions. Inside this parcel includes: 1. Application form. 2. Your traveling documents. 3. Audition Script. 4. Documents containing information about the movie. We will like you to have these documents prior to your arrival in Lagos, this will enable you prepare better for the auditions. Our admin manager, Mr. Kelvin Nwosu, will be contacting you very soon, give him all the information he needs to enable him prepare your traveling documents. If there is need for additional information, we will contact you. Thanks for making this project successful, I wish you good luck in your preparations. I will get to meet you in person when you come to Nigeria, we can discuss better when we meet in person. The auditions will only be for five days and i dont think you will be needing a vacination. I will be glad to answer your questions if any. We hope you have a wonderful stay in Lagos. Congratulations and good luck. Yours faithfully, Kelvin Nwosu. Gene Rayburn Date: Tue, 03 Apr 2007 Dear Kelvin, I'm very confused. I was to understand that you people at Universal Studios would be paying for all of my expenses. I am shocked to see this request for money. Why is Universal Studios using Western Union? And what courier service is charging you so much? In any case, please speak with Eddie about this. He is a good friend of mine and has promised that this would all be taken care of. I do not have time to worry about such things. If your picture cannot afford to post a simple parcel, how do you expect to fund this epic picture about an important event for the city of Nigeria? Please clarify what is going on here. On another matter, has Eddie given you the information about my trailer and amenity requirements? These requirements are not for the audition, but only once principal shooting begins. Also, has Eddie given you the information about my Chinese Shar Pei? I will be bringing him to the audition as well. Please send whatever paperwork is needed to bring him along. Please send me the script via e-mail. I would like to scan it for viruses. I don't want to catch anything while I'm there. Sincerely, Gene Kelvin Nwosu Sent : Thursday, April 5, 2007 Received: from [128.241.108.145] Well this is the best we can do, if you are still interested in this program find time and get back to us for the auditions will start 16th of this month. Please notify us in time so that we can replace you if you wish to discontinue. Thanks and good luck. Gene Rayburn Date: Thu, 05 Apr 2007 Dear Kelvin, Please explain what you mean by "This is the best we can do." Are you saying that Universal Studios cannot afford to ship me a package? If it is a matter of the film not having enough funding, I have some friends who would be very interested in investing in the picture. I have told them about it, and they are very sympathetic to the cause. They also feel that there might be some tax advantages to investing in foreign-made films. I don't know much about it, but I'm checking with my accountant. Are you looking for investors? Thanks, Gene Kelvin Nwosu Sent : Thursday, April 5, 2007 Sorry we dont want investors Gene Rayburn Date: Thu, 05 Apr 2007 I'm sorry to hear that too. I wish you the best of luck with your film. Gene Rayburn To: eddie275@gmail.com Subject: Re: Reference Number NGR5600L Date: Thu, 05 Apr 2007 Hello Eddie, I just wanted to let you know that it looks like it will not work out. I questioned Kelvin about this fee of his, and things got very suspicious. I even let him know about my friends in an investment group that are very eager to invest in your picture, and he claims that Universal is not interested. That is shocking to me, because I've invested in many pictures and the studios are always interested in more funding. Please let me know if another movie-related opportunity arises. Sincerely, Gene. |
